About the project
This residence is situated in the gated community – “UTOPIA” – OLDE Bangalore in Bangalore North. This residence is designed for a family of three members on a plot size of 50’ x 100’. The south facing property with built-up area of 3,300 sft with Ground and First floor. The client’s interest was to build the house in earthy materials like mud block. This residence is a unique one which has cast in-situ mud block wall construction with pagoda style of roof for chejjas and slope roof with deck sheet & RCC. The focal point of the house is the stainless steel (SS) pole at the centre of the staircase area. This pole is used to slide from top floor to bottom floor through a small gate in the railing of the First Floor. In the master bedroom a mezzanine was created with skylight to view the sky as the client was pilot.
The entire residence had Attangudi tiles for common area, Kota stone for bedrooms, and Kadapa stone for kitchen as flooring and minimal of red oxide flooring. The house has a skylight in the Centre which illuminates the house with Day light. The dining area with structural glazing has a view to the backyard of the residence. This entire residence is dependent on rain water for drinking purpose also.
